A portrait gallery melding abstracted forms and picture frames cast in porcelain. The frame becomes a device to bring tidiness to a messy situation, simultaneously entrapping and protecting an object, which cannot be contained: underlying emotional chaos.

Centerpieces for Matriarchs (Margaret, Edna and Billie) reference the artist's mother and grandmothers. The Kohler sinks act as bowls holding detritus of daily living and abstract forms from unknown origins. The surface is brilliant and inviting, but these centerpieces are precariously situated, a reference to our human condition.

Rutile, A lustrous red, reddish-brown, or black mineral, that is often used for making ceramic glaze. This rutile-glazed sink was found in the cull pile ready to be discarded due to a tiny flaw in the glazing technique. Rutile is a coveted glaze in the factory and I felt the preciousness of the object, the fact that it was rescued and became the container for my grotesque and slick object enhanced the awkwardness and specialness simultaneously.
