If drawing is taking a line for a walk, as Paul Klee once said, then I have taken that concept to heart in my paintings.
An artist friend once told me that my paintings have a sense of whirly, girly, calligraphy and as I work through the painting the process of making marks on the canvas and the interaction of shapes and color does feel like a sort of dance. My work integrates many layers of information. Patterned draperies and bed linens, fragments of monster-like toys, and menacing organic forms have evolved into intricate “gardens” of organic and geometric shapes, patterns, and lines.
